As demand for electric vehicles grows, so does the need for lithium, cobalt, manganese and nickel — and the challenge of what to do with used lithium-ion batteries. Yu Haijun and Xie Yinghao developed a method that recovers battery cathode materials and converts them directly into high-performance components for new batteries.
