Protect the Tongass Forest
⚠️ Trump is still attacking our wildest forests! 🌲
Our undeveloped national forests are the heart of our public land. But now, one of the most important — and most underappreciated — conservation policies is on the verge of being cut by Trump. If the Roadless Area Conservation Rule is repealed, 45 million acres of protected national forests across the country would be opened up for the first time to road building and the logging, mining, and extractive industries that come with that.
The Tongass National Forest is considered the "Crown Jewel" of the National Forest System. It's full area exceeds the size of West Virgina, and more than half of the Tongass is protected by the Roadless Rule. That's 9.2 million acres of oldgrowth forests, glaciers, clean rivers, and wildlife habitat. Alaskans have spoken up for the Tongass for years and, as the Roadless Rule comment period approaches, they're doing it again.
