Webinar "Effective Redress for AI Harms in Europe" by CDT Europe & Hermes Center

On 19 February, we hosted a webinar co-organised with the Hermes Center on “Effective Redress for AI Harms in Europe: Charting a Path Forward”. Our Legal and Advocacy Officer Magdalena Maier presented our newly-published report “A Long Road Ahead: Effective Remedies for Artificial Intelligence Harms in the European Union”, analysing the role played by other EU legal frameworks in addressing the gaps left by the AI Act, their limits in ensuring redress for AI-related harms, and the necessary steps to realise truly effective remedies for all those affected. She was joined by Ernestina Sacchetto, Senior Legal Expert at the Hermes Center, who focused on the report “Ensuring rights in the age of AI” by the Hermes Center and The Good Lobby Italy, which provides a contextualised analysis of the redress mechanisms contained in the AI Act within the Italian legal framework, while also proposing recommendations to the national legislator to ensure they are effective and accessible to citizens.
