In recognition of the International Day of People with Disabilities, NDI celebrates the essential work of partners who are at the forefront of fighting for greater levels of equality and organizing to shift social norms and perceptions and reduce barriers to political participation for persons with disabilities. NDI interviewed Musie Tilahun Yirga, the Executive Director of Ethiopian Lawyers with Disabilities Association (ELDA). ELDA is an organization led by and for people with disabilities which has received support from NDI under the Equal Rights in Action Fund. ELDA focuses on advocating for more disability-inclusive laws and policies in Ethiopia. Musie told us how ELDA is working to address barriers to participation and promote the inclusion of people with disabilities in all aspects of political life.
