Portugal's Chairmanship of the Rabat Process 2024
Learn more about Portugal's vision for its Chairmanship of the Rabat Process in 2024. Luis Goes Pinheiro, President of Portugal's Agency for Integration, Migration and Asylum (AIMA), outlines their priorities and programme for 2024 in a video interview. This is the second time Portugal is serving as Chair of the Rabat Process, a migration dialogue also known as the Euro-African Dialogue on Migration and Development. During their 1-year term, the Chairmanship will focus on advancing the Cadiz Action Plan 2023-2027, which is the main multi-annual strategic framework guiding the Rabat Process. More specifically, the Portuguese Chairmanship will promote the following action areas:
Area 2: Regular migration and mobility
Area 3: Protection and asylum
Area 1: Development benefits of migration and addressing the root causes of irregular migration and forced displacement
