A safe, respectful media workplace should be non-negotiable, but an upcoming report reveals just how little has changed in the last five years for female journalists. BBC Media Action worked with WAN-IFRA Women in News and City St Georges, University of London to survey female journalists around the world, including in Bangladesh, to expose the true scale of sexual harassment in media workplaces. In Bangladesh, 15% of journalists reported workplace sexual harassment, with women facing far higher levels of verbal, online and physical abuse than men. We are equipping female journalists in Bangladesh, with practical skills to respond to harassment and support colleagues.
