Smart Irrigation System | Bhutan Japan UNDP Partnership
Tshering Eden, a mother of three from Trashiyangtse, beams with pride as she shares how life has changed for her and her community. Thanks to a new climate-smart irrigation system, her village no longer struggles with water shortages for their fields. “Now, we have no more conflicts over water, and our rice production will improve,” she says, smiling. With more income from rice production, she can provide a brighter future for her children. This project, benefiting 139 households, uses IoT technology to manage 7.12 km of irrigation channels, ensuring a steady water supply for 197 acres of farmland. The Bhutan-Japan-UNDP project is creating harmony, resilience, and hope for communities like Tshering’s in rural Bhutan.
