IMPACT in the DR Congo | The Kvinna till Kvinna Foundation

This video highlights a key activity conducted by AFEM under the IMPACT programme, which focuses on the inclusion and empowerment of women and girls for feminist and sustainable peace in Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo. The activity brought together women from North and South Kivu, creating a rare space for dialogue, shared experiences, and joint reflection on peace processes and coexistence across conflict-affected areas. Through collective discussions and a SWOT analysis of past peace agreements and treaties in the DRC, participants identified a major gap: despite being among the most affected by conflict, women have largely been excluded from formal peace processes and decision-making spaces. The exchanges strongly reinforced the recognition of women not only as victims, but as key agents and drivers of peacebuilding. A powerful and unified message emerged from the activity: women are the pillars of sustainable peace, and there can be no meaningful or lasting peace agreement without their full and active participation. This initiative contributes to strengthening women’s leadership, amplifying their voices, and promoting more inclusive and effective peacebuilding efforts in the region.
