NEC 2024 - B5: Gender Equality in National Evaluation Systems

There is broad consensus within the development community that gender equality remains one of the most critical development challenges we face today. Policies are widely recognized as the primary means of effectively closing these gaps at both national and subnational levels. However, with only five years left until 2030, progress toward achieving SDGs 5 and 10 is insufficient and unequal. Despite this, a wealth of lessons is being learned, a body of evidence has been gathered from evaluations conducted across diverse settings, evaluation capacities have been strengthened, and significant opportunities for improvement through collaboration and knowledge sharing have emerged. Given the challenge of generating evidence that can lead to better policies and better lives—and recognizing the rich knowledge sharing and robust evaluation tools already available—this panel invites you to discuss alternatives for developing stronger evidence and explore pathways to achieve transformational change towards gender equality.
