Over the last decade, the UNFPA Safeguard Young People (SYP) programme has emerged as a powerful force, sowing the seeds of empowerment among countless adolescents and young people in East and Southern Africa. In South Africa, with the generous support of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Netherlands (since 2023) and the Swiss Agency for Development Cooperation (since 2013), SYP has advanced Adolescent and young people's sexual and reproductive health and rights which saw the establishment of a Youth Advisory Panel to champion youth advocacy at policy and implementation levels.
