Across the world a quiet shift is reshaping the future of cervical cancer. Countries that introduced HPV vaccination early have already seen the virus fade to the margins, with once common high-risk strains now almost gone. Since 2014, an estimated 86 million girls in lower income countries have received the vaccine through Gavi support, and many more will gain access as new national programmes launch. By the end of 2025, HPV vaccination will be available in the countries where most cervical cancer cases occur.
