COOL SURFACES: Enhancing Local Techniques for Thermal Comfort in Dhaka, Bangladesh

COOL SURFACES is a winning project of the Heat Adaptive Architecture Design Competition, a global challenge calling on designers and architects to develop innovative, climate-responsive solutions for communities facing extreme heat. Set in Sattola, one of Dhaka's densely populated informal settlements, COOL SURFACES introduces three passive surface interventions — Cool Floor, Cool Wall, and Cool Roof — using low-cost, locally available materials that residents can install themselves. Shaped by community research and surveys of 20 households, it's a scalable, dignified approach to heat adaptation. 📍 Sattola, Dhaka, Bangladesh 🏆 Explore all competition winners: https://preparecenter.org/site/heat-adaptive-architecture-design-competition-meet-the-winners/ #HeatAdaptiveArchitecture #ClimateAdaptation #Dhaka #ThermalComfort #CoolSurfaces #PassiveCooling #DesignCompetition
