Less plastic. Same care. Better health.

Less plastic. Same care. Better health.

Health care depends on single‑use items — and so do we. Currently, 66 percent of the medical items we use are single-use, and many are made of plastic that harms both people’s health and the environment. That’s why we’re rethinking how we use products like gloves and masks. MSF is reviewing more than 4,000 products to reduce our use of unnecessary plastics, shift to safer alternatives, and work with manufacturers to change what’s produced. It will take time and effort to implement the changes needed at MSF and in the health sector at large. Plastic production and disposal represent a global health crisis. Reducing unnecessary single-use plastics is vital to protect health — today and for future generations.
