“Even in wars, the protection of civilians is an obligation that the warring parties have to respect.”
Ahmed Abd-elrahman, MSF director of operations, shares a voice note detailing his time in Tiné, Chad. Our medical teams working near the border with Sudan are responding to repeated influxes of patients wounded in drone attacks.
Since early May 2026, drone strikes around Tiné — attributed to one of Sudan’s warring parties, the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) — have intensified. Our teams have treated 116 people wounded in these strikes, including an increasing number of women and children. Residents report that strikes now occur almost daily, with up to five or six incidents on some days.
We call for the protection of civilians and for safe, timely access to health care. Learn more at: https://www.doctorswithoutborders.org/latest/drone-strikes-cause-mass-casualties-chad-sudan-border
