WSIS+20 Side Event | IGF Dynamic Coalitions at the Forefront of WSIS+20 and Beyond

Two decades after the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS), the digital landscape is being reshaped by a new wave of technological transformations. As we look towards the WSIS+20 review and the future of global digital cooperation, the Internet Governance Forum's Dynamic Coalitions (DCs) are proving to be vital incubators of innovation, tackling the most pressing challenges at the intersection of technology, security, and governance. Building on a pivotal recent debate about the urgent need for Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) to counter "harvest now, decrypt later" attacks, this high-level session will showcase how the DCs are translating the WSIS principles into actionable frameworks for a secure and inclusive digital future. They are developing the critical standards and policies needed across the most demanding technological domains: • Securing the Digital Foundation: Leading the global migration to PQC to protect critical infrastructure, from the DNS and IoT ecosystems to journalism and digital health records. • Building Trust in the Decentralized World: Establishing Blockchain assurance and standardization for secure digital identity and transparent governance. • Safeguarding Our Connected Lives: Addressing the unique vulnerabilities of the Internet of Things (IoT) and Data-Driven Health Technologies in a post-quantum reality. • Architecting the Next Frontier: Pioneering the protocols for an Interplanetary Internet to ensure interoperability and security are built-in from the start. This session is a critical stocktaking of how the multi-stakeholder model, embodied by the Dynamic Coalitions, is delivering practical solutions for the next decade. The Dynamic Coalitions are independent self-constituted bottom-up entities in the IGF-ecosystem. They are an essential component of the IGF’s intersessional work and are engines of innovation, dialogue and community driven research on some of the most pressing issues in Internet governance.
