AI, Productivity and Informality in Latin America - Opportunity or Divergence?
This workshop brang together OECD evidence and emerging insights from Latin America to assess how artificial intelligence may shape productivity, labour markets and economic growth.
It focused on a central policy question: can AI help Latin America close its long-standing productivity gap, and under what conditions?
Given the still limited evidence in this area, the aim of the session was to share existing knowledge, identify key uncertainties, and discuss policy priorities for the region.
The workshop comprised two thematic sessions, followed by a roundtable discussion:
• Session 1: AI, productivity and firms
• Session 2: Labour markets, skills and informality
• Roundtable discussion: What will it take for AI to deliver in Latin America?
