The Celestial Globe marks the 90th anniversary of Griffith Observatory, a contemporary art installation by Cindy Ingraham Keefer inspired by the ancient Farnese Atlas. Featuring the Farnese constellations “floating” around a hollow, rotating sphere, this is the Observatory’s first major exhibit in over 19 years. Rising above the two-story Gravity’s Stairway, the stainless-steel globe slowly spins on its axis, creating a striking connection between art, astronomy, and architecture.
