Republic of the Congo | What happens when women know their rights?

How is UNDP investing in women’s access to justice in the Republic of the Congo? In this message for International Women’s Day, Adama-Dian Barry, Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in the Republic of the Congo, highlights efforts to strengthen women’s access to legal advice and protection. UNDP has established a strategic alliance with the Association of Women Lawyers of Congo, under the patronage of the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry for the Advancement of Women. Through this partnership, legal professionals provide women with advice on their rights and support them in enforcing those rights. These initiatives also contribute to broader women’s empowerment. More than 145,000 women have gained access to services, employment opportunities, financing and mentoring to strengthen their rights and economic opportunities.
