On 12 February 2026, on the margins of the 39th African Union Summit in Addis Ababa, the Government of Nigeria and UNDP convened a high-level Ministerial Forum on Regional Partnerships for Democracy. Held under the theme “Making Democracy Deliver,” the forum advanced the Regional Partnership for Democracy (2025–2030), focusing on strengthening institutions, restoring public trust and reinforcing democratic resilience through regional cooperation. Leaders emphasized citizen-centred governance, accountability, information integrity and meaningful participation of youth and women as priorities for translating political commitment into delivery.
