Social Perspectives on Forest Governance - Ecosystem Governance Thematic Group

This event brings together leading initiatives from Latin America, Africa, and Europe advancing sustainable, community‑driven forest governance. Speakers : Kwame Sekyere from Tropenbos Ghana, who will share their approach to support community-Led forest governance in Ghana, presenting case studies on restoration and agroforestry landscapes. Sheila Sotero Delgado from AIDESEP, who will present their work in the Peruvian Amazon to adapt national climate policies and programs to ensure forest territorial rights, governance, and the implementation of the Amazonian Indigenous REDD+ strategy. Isidoro de Bertoli from EURAC, who will present the Central Mountains initiative, highlighting new cross‑border inclusive governance models for the Alpine–Carpathian region, with a focus on youth insights. Together, these perspectives will explore how diverse regions can strengthen forest governance, participation and sustainability.
