How can gender-responsive transport systems accelerate Africa’s development? This session, co-organized by IDEV, the African Development Bank’s Gender, Women and Civil Society Department, and the World Bank’s ieConnect for Impact program, explored how inclusive transport strategies can drive sustainable development. Drawing on recent evaluations and research, the event showcased gender-focused transport initiatives, examined the barriers women face in mobility, and highlighted practical solutions to inform policy, programming, and project design. Real-world insights and evidence fostered meaningful dialogue and collaboration toward building inclusive, resilient, and gender-responsive transport systems across Africa.
