How Can Climate Action Shape Healthier Futures in Africa?
Climate change is impacting human health through extreme heat, floods, drought, and food and water shortages, while unsustainable practices such as fossil fuel use, poor waste management, and deforestation amplify the risks of disease, malnutrition, and poverty. Africa is disproportionately affected by these impacts.
At the same time, Africa has major opportunities to adopt low-carbon, climate-resilient, and health-promoting pathways. Clean energy transitions, sustainable food systems, better air quality, and access to nature can provide immediate health benefits while advancing development goals, presenting win-win solutions for countries and communities.
This documentary explores how climate action can shape healthier futures in Africa, featuring insights from Pathfinder Initiative experts from the African Institute for Development Policy, the African Population and Health Research Center, and the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. The film also features participants in a Pathfinder Initiative workshop in Nairobi, and perspectives from City Shamba and Koch FM, initiatives addressing climate challenges while bringing immediate benefits to local communities in Nairobi.
