Beyond Eurovision: Drone Song—THE Message from Gaza

As Eurovision prepares to command the attention of more than 160 million viewers, the release of an alternative cultural act marking a parallel moment of hope. The is not a call to compete. Not a call to win. It is a call for justice and freedom for Palestine. A call for life, dignity, recognition, and an end to occupation and siege. At the centre is Ahmed Abu Amsha’s newly re-recorded Drone Song, (music by Zaid Hilal) performed with the Gaza Birds Singing group alongside visual artist Yazid Talaa at Gaza’s Rashad Al Shawa Cultural Centre - once a beacon of art and public life, now destroyed and used as a shelter for displaced people. This work sits outside the competition by design. Recorded in recent days, it asks for no points and no placement.
