Reviving Roots: The Story of The Sagarmatha Community Agro-Forestry Project (SCAFP)

The Sagarmatha Community Agro-Forestry Project (SCAFP) was one of Nepal’s early models for community forestry, sustainable mountain development, and alternative energy adoption in the Everest region. Launched in 1996, SCAFP supported community forest user groups, established nurseries, expanded clean energy options, promoted organic farming, empowered women, strengthened environmental education, and backed pollution control efforts with Sagarmatha Pollution Control Committee (SPCC). This documentary-style video highlights SCAFP’s achievements and its lasting impact on conservation and community livelihoods in Sagarmatha National Park and Pharak.
