Babonneau Secondary School - St. Lucia
During the 2026 NCTF Mentorship Exchange, a visit was paid to one of St. Lucia National Conservation Fund’s (SLUNCF) grantees namely the Babonneau Secondary School, participants explored a youth-focused aquaponics project that integrates climate-smart agriculture techniques, including Nutrient Film Technique (NFT) and deep-water culture systems. The initiative has trained 18 students, equipping them with practical agricultural skills, fostering income-generating opportunities, and strengthening youth engagement in sustainable food systems.
The mentorship initiative was supported by the Caribbean Biodiversity Fund (CBF) through its Endowment mechanism and the Caribbean Regional Architecture Biodiversity (CRAB) Project which is funded by Agence Française de Développement (AFD), and French Global Environmental Facility (FFEM).
