Wetlands, Reefs and Recovery: Grenada Sustainable Development Trust Fund | CBF NCTF Stories
Grenada's Levera wetlands and the Sandy Island Oyster Bed Marine Protected Area are ecosystems unlike any other in the country and are vital to food security, livelihoods, and coastal resilience.
This video follows the Grenada Sustainable Development Trust Fund (GSDTF) and the Grenada Coral Reef Foundation as they lead post-Hurricane Beryl restoration of a community boardwalk, marine and terrestrial cleanup, and revegetation of Sandy Island, which lost 40% of its land area in the storm. The GSDTF, established with CBF technical assistance, provides grants to grassroots organizations across Grenada to advance national biodiversity conservation — grounding community ownership at the heart of every project.
This video is part of CBF's NCTF Stories series, produced to mark International Biodiversity Day 2026 under the theme Acting Locally for Global Impact. The Caribbean Biodiversity Fund supports a network of National Conservation Trust Funds across 12 Caribbean nations, providing sustainable conservation finance to protect the region's biodiversity for people and nature.
