Country Strikers Empowering Women in Agriculture
During the 2026 NCTF Mentorship Workshop a visit was made to St. Lucia National Conservation Fund (SLUNCF) grantee the Country Strikers Youth and Sports Club in Laborie which engaged with a community-supported agriculture (CSA) livelihoods initiative focused on youth and women empowerment. The project includes a nursery producing approximately 1,500 seedlings, small-scale farming on 0.25 acres, and rainwater harvesting systems. It contributes to local food production, supports school feeding programmes, and strengthens overall community resilience.
The mentorship initiative was supported by the Caribbean Biodiversity Fund (CBF) through its Endowment mechanism and the Caribbean Regional Architecture Biodiversity (CRAB) Project which is funded by Agence Française de Développement (AFD), and French Global Environmental Facility (FFEM).
