Ridge to Reef: St. Vincent and the Grenadines Conservation Fund | CBF NCTF Stories

The hills, valleys, and coastal waters of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines are the foundation of community life — and the SVG Conservation Fund is working to keep them that way. This video spotlights two complementary projects: a vetiver grass initiative combating soil erosion on farmlands to protect food security, and a sea moss cultivation programme that has given coastal women a sustainable livelihood as an alternative to over-harvested reef resources. Together, they embody the ridge-to-reef approach — protecting the land above so the ocean below can thrive. The SVG Conservation Fund targets economically and educationally marginalized rural communities, designing conservation projects rooted in local culture, heritage, and community bonds, supported by CBF's endowment. This video is part of CBF's NCTF Stories series, produced to mark International Biodiversity Day 2026 under the theme Acting Locally for Global Impact. The Caribbean Biodiversity Fund supports a network of National Conservation Trust Funds across 12 Caribbean nations, providing sustainable conservation finance to protect the region's biodiversity for people and nature.
