Epidemiology of Decay: Environmental and Mechanical Study of Historic Tapestries on Open Display

Historic tapestry collections have been considered among the most significant forms of art from the 15th to 18th century in Europe. When on open display, tapestries are exposed to environmental fluctuations which cause cycles of moisture intake that can lead to damage. This paper explores the epidemiology of decay within a collection of historic tapestries, focusing specifically on those on open display. Presenter: Constantina Vlachou-Mogire, Historic Royal Palaces
