Evaluation of Tear Mending by 3D-DIC and its Restoration’s Impact on the Flatness of the Artwork

Full Lecture Title — Evaluation of a Tear Mending by Digital Image Correlation (3D-DIC) and Analysis of the Impact of its Restoration on the Flatness of the Work When we restore a tear on an easel painting, the method is often based on empirical knowledge, and the question of the flatness of the original support, the mechanical properties of the painting, and stress distribution around the tear is rarely studied. In this perspective, our research aims to analyze the mechanical phenomena involved and the behavior over time of a tear depending on the restoration treatment carried out.
