United Nations Deputy Secretary-General, Ms. Amina Mohammed, launches the Africa Dialogue Series (ADS) 2026, setting the tone for discussions that will take place throughout May, which is Africa Month. This year's ADS theme is: “Water and Sanitation for Life: Harnessing Water Resources for the Africa We Want.” It draws from the 2026 theme adopted by African Heads of State: “Assuring Sustainable Water Availability and Safe Sanitation Systems to Achieve the Goals of Agenda 2063. This theme is crucial given that water is a strategic resource that affects all aspects of development in both the United Nations Agenda 2030 and the African Union Agenda 2063.
