'The new needles are important to us': reducing hep C with innovative needle & syringe technology
People who use drugs are at increased risk of hepatitis and HIV and injection-related injuries. But new needle and syringe technology could reduce new infections and change lives.
The Innovate Involve Inspire: preventing hepatitis C through community-led harm reduction programme, funded by Unitaid, is a research study working with people who use drugs in Gombe State, Nigeria. The study will gather data and the voices of people who inject drugs about safer injecting equipment and how it is distributed.
The programme in Nigeria is led by Frontline AIDS and implemented by Drug-Free and Preventive Healthcare Organisation (DAPHO) and Education as a Vaccine (EVA). For further information, visit: www.frontlineaids.org/hepc
Thank you to the community of people who use drugs in Gombe State, the Gombe State Ministry of Health and the Gombe State Government for their support in making this film.
