Restoring rosewood species in Viet Nam's Dakrong and Dong Nai

In Viet Nam, rosewood species are critically endangered due to illegal logging and high timber demand. With ITTO’s support, communities in Dakrong and Dong Nai are restoring Burmese rosewood (Dalbergia oliveri) and Siamese rosewood (Dalbergia cochinchinensis). Through capacity building, awareness raising, and restorative planting, local communities are taking the lead to become stewards in conservation, restoration, and forest monitoring. By restoring these slow-growing, high-value species, ITTO is advancing biodiversity conservation, climate action, and sustainable livelihoods.
