First Nations established the Stewarding Native Lands program to support Tribes and Native communities to regain and restore their lands. In the field of Native American community development, land and natural resources are among the most critical and are key to ensuring Tribes’ sustainability, lifeways, and economies. SNL believes that Native communities already have the strategies and localized solutions, rooted in traditional knowledge and stewardship, to build adaptive capacity; manage land, animals, and plants; and improve the health of communities and ecosystems.
