Displaced and Forgotten: Winter in Northwest Syria | MSF
Displacement patterns in northwest Syria vary across affected communities. Some households have remained displaced since the onset of the war, while others were compelled to flee only after facing imminent threats to life and safety.
Although some displaced families have returned to their areas of origin, a significant proportion remains unable to do so due to destroyed housing, lack of basic services, and ongoing safety and livelihood constraints. While initial emergency responses saw strong engagement from humanitarian actors, assistance has steadily declined over the past 14 years. As a result, displaced populations now face critical gaps in shelter, access to food and healthcare, basic services, protection, and livelihood opportunities.
