Care, with humanity | MSF South Asia
For Fatima, nursing is about more than treatment. It is about standing beside people in their most vulnerable moments, especially children.
As a nursing team supervisor in the Boost Provincial Hospital, Afghanistan that operates with Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), she works with nurses who rotate through day and night shifts to ensure patients receive constant care. Together with doctors, the team visits patients, gives medicines, and supports children through recovery.
“Children need more kindness and attention,” she says. “They need someone who makes them feel safe.”
In difficult moments, nurses often become a source of comfort as much as medical support. And when a child begins to recover, whether through a smile, renewed energy, or simple progress, it becomes a proud moment for the entire team.
Because healing isn’t only about treatment, it’s about humanity.
