Transforming Agriculture and Fisheries through Innovation and Trade
This session explored how innovative solutions—from climate-smart agriculture to sustainable fisheries, digital traceability, and Blue Economy approaches—help smallholder farmers and artisanal fishers access regional and global markets under evolving trade rules. By linking innovation and trade, the session highlighted how modern technologies, sustainable practices, and strengthened value chains can promote inclusive, competitive, and climate-resilient growth, with special focus on fisheries as a pillar of the Blue Economy in West Africa.
Participants examined policy frameworks, digital tools, market access, funding options, and successful models that support sustainable and equitable development. The discussion emphasized strategies to improve productivity, diversify exports, and enhance livelihoods for small-scale producers while contributing to food security and SDGs such as Zero Hunger, Decent Work, and Life Below Water.
Speakers presented practical examples, case studies, and collaborative approaches, offering actionable insights for scaling innovation, strengthening trade, and fostering sustainable rural economies.
