The International Organization for Migration (IOM) marked the successful closing of the implementation of four regional projects in the field of migration management, carried out with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark. Over the past four years, this partnership has helped strengthen resilient, humane, and sustainable migration management systems in the country and the region, aligned with European standards and grounded in the respect for human rights. The programme, which was implemented from 2022 to 2025, included a series of strategic activities through four key instruments: Integrated Border Management (WBIBM), Readmission (WBCAP), Combating Migrant Smuggling and Trafficking in Human Beings (WBJAST), and Voluntary Return and Reintegration (WBAVRR). Through more than 300 trainings and workshops, the capacities of officials from the Ministry of the Interior, Border Police, Centres for Social Work, and other relevant institutions in Montenegro and the region were strengthened. A special focus was placed on practical skills – from recognizing forged documents, through humanitarian border management, to the protection of human rights and gender equality.
