IOM and the Ministry of Diaspora strengthening ties between Montenegro and its diaspora through the Workshop on Local Development and Business Plan Development. IOM successfully hosted the Workshop on Local Development and Business Plan Development on February 18-19, 2025, in Budva, highlighting the crucial role of the diaspora in Montenegro’s economic and sustainable development. The event brought together representatives from municipalities with a significant diaspora presence, fostering discussions on Montenegro’s diaspora engagement initiatives, international best practices, and innovative ways to align diaspora resources with local business development. Through interactive sessions, participants gained practical skills in business plan development, enabling them to leverage local resources and attract diaspora investments. Additionally, the workshop focused on effective communication strategies to strengthen the connection between the diaspora and their home communities, paving the way for long-term sustainable development. This activity was organized within the framework of the project “Diaspora Engagement for Sustainable Development of Montenegro – Phase II”, implemented by IOM in partnership with the Ministry of Diaspora Affairs of Montenegro.
