This session was designed as a broad introduction to the concept of governance – its historical origins, its evolution within international development cooperation, how it is interpreted and applied by global institutions, and its relevance and practical use within the Country-Led Planning (CLP) programme of the Global Forest Observations Initiative. It was conceived as the first in a series of three closely connected sessions, which together would build toward a detailed examination of the CLP Functional Gap Assessment Tool.
