Where you live shouldn't determine whether you can get the health care you need. But some US lawmakers want to restrict the right to travel for abortion. As Guttmacher expert Amy Friedrich-Karnik explains, two newly introduced pieces of legislation would help to protect and support abortions patients who are forced to cross state lines: The Freedom to Travel for Health Care Act, and the Reproductive Health Travel Fund Act. No one should have to leave home to get essential health services. We'll keep fighting to protect and expand abortion care in every state. Until then, we must defend the freedom to travel for it.
