Integration of ecosystem-based adaptation principles in post-conflict forest landscape restoration

Webinar: Integration of ecosystem-based adaptation principles in post-conflict forest landscape restoration planning By the IUFRO Task Force on Post-Conflict Forest Landscape Restoration 3 April 2026, 15:00 CEST; Presented by Karma Bouazza The webinar focused on the integration of ecosystem-based adaptation (EbA) into post-conflict forest landscape restoration, with a particular emphasis on the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. It highlighted how climate change and conflict interact to intensify environmental and social vulnerability, especially through water scarcity, land degradation, and heat extremes. A central message was that restoration should move beyond a purely ecological focus and adopt an integrated approach that incorporates social, economic, and governance dimensions. EbA was presented as a key framework that uses ecosystem services and nature-based solutions to support both environmental recovery and human well-being.
