“This conflict exposes a deeper truth. As long as our energy system relies on oil and gas, conflict will continue to affect us far beyond the battlefield.”
📈 After the price of a barrel hit $119 (USD) yesterday, IEA member countries announced 400 million barrels of oil from their reserve.
🛢️ That’s almost three weeks worth of supply that would have come through the Strait of Hormuz, where about 20% of the world’s gas and oil is usually transported through.
“Our lives remain tied to a system built on fossil fuel dependency and instability.”
‼️Profit, power, and greed are the driver of the war in Iran. The violence inflicted upon innocent people and families extends well past the war zone; it’s driving up the cost of living for people globally. Fuel, food, and energy bills are all more expensive as a direct result.
“At 350, we are clear. We demand peace, and we demand a just transition to renewable energy that is locally produced, and that cannot be weaponized or held hostage by war and greed.”
We stand in solidarity with everyone affected. ✊🏼
