The Lowy Institute will host an address by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defence, The Hon Richard Marles MP on Tuesday 19 May 2026. The Deputy Prime Minister will speak on the 2026 Australian Nation Defence Strategy and Integrated Investment Plan, AUKUS and the government’s broader defence agenda. After his remarks, the Lowy Institute's Research Director Mihai Sora will chair a Q&A session with the Deputy Prime Minister. The Hon. Richard Marles MP is the Deputy Prime Minister of Australia, Minister for Defence and the Federal Member for Corio. Richard was first elected to the House of Representatives for Corio, Victoria in 2007.
