Driving safely managed services together
The world remains off‑track to meet the global targets for water and sanitation. Achieving basic water and sanitation services is no longer sufficient to protect public health or meet national development ambitions. Countries must instead deliver safely managed services—water that is provided on premises, available when needed and free from contamination, and sanitation services that safely contain, transport, treat and dispose of waste. These service levels are essential but achieving them remains a significant challenge worldwide.
This animation forms part of "Pathways to safely managed water and sanitation services" a free online course on the WASH Systems Academy. It was created by IRC with funding from the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office of the Government of the United Kingdom under the WASH Systems for Health programme.
