The US has labeled Brazil's largest criminal groups, PCC and Comando Vermelho, as Foreign Terrorist Organizations. The designation aims to curb the group's influence in the US. However, the PCC and CV mainly operate in Latin America with drug flows to Europe and West Africa. The Global Initiaitve Against Transnational Organized Crime has also been monitoring the impact of previous US FTO designations, and found they've had limited impact on dismantling the criminal groups involved.
