In Senegal, where many communities rely on agriculture and natural resources, recurring droughts are making it harder to sustain livelihoods. Falling yields are reducing household income and affecting access to healthcare and education. When data signalled a high risk of drought, Start Ready was activated, releasing £1.2 million to enable early action before impacts worsened. As a result, 9,000 families received cash and nutrition support, helping them cover school fees, access essential medicines, and stabilise daily life. Hear directly from the community in this video!
