Strengthening governance systems in support of forest carbon markets in LAC
Funded by the UN-REDD Programme, the first session of the regional webinar series “Strengthening governance systems in support of forest carbon markets in Latin America and the Caribbean” featured experiences from Chile, Costa Rica, and Colombia.
The discussion explored emission reduction rights, benefit-sharing arrangements, ART-TREES requirements, and access to forest carbon finance. Clear and equitable rules in these areas are essential to ensure transparency, recognise the contributions of Indigenous Peoples and local communities, and strengthen the credibility of jurisdictional REDD+ programmes.
