As the last scheduled round of plastics treaty negotiations opens in Geneva, countries are racing to finalise a deal. Even if climate is not mentioned once in the 22-page text serving as the basis for negotiations, the outcome of those talks could have a profound impact on the world’s efforts to limit global warming to the Paris Agreement goal of 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels.
