[ENG BELOW] Due anni. Nessuna infrastruttura. Nessuna ingegneria. Solo restituire alla natura lo spazio per fare ciò che sa fare meglio. Su un terreno di proprietà di Rewilding Apennines nel comune di Pettorano sul Gizio, l'acqua ha iniziato a riconquistare il suo spazio. Zone umide un tempo drenate o degradate stanno tornando a vivere — e con l'acqua tornano insetti, anfibi, uccelli, vegetazione igrofila. Una trasformazione silenziosa ma potente, visibile già nei primi risultati. Questo è il rewetting: un intervento mirato e leggero che aiuta a ripristinare un regime idrologico più naturale, migliorando l'infiltrazione, la ritenzione dell'acqua nel suolo e la capacità del territorio di adattarsi a un clima che cambia. Nei prossimi cinque anni, con il supporto dell'Endangered Landscapes & Seascapes Programme, opereremo il rewetting su almeno 30 ettari, contribuendo a ricostruire una rete di zone umide fondamentali per la fauna selvatica e per le persone che vivono in questo paesaggio. 📷 Giancarlo Gallinoro | 🎵 Music Diamond Ortiz Two years. On land owned by Rewilding Apennines in the municipality of Pettorano sul Gizio, water has begun to reclaim its space. Wetlands once drained or degraded are coming back to life — and with the water come insects, amphibians, birds, hygrophilous vegetation. A quiet yet powerful transformation, already visible in the first results. This is rewetting: a targeted, light-touch intervention that helps restore a more natural hydrological regime, improving infiltration, water retention in the soil, and the land’s ability to adapt to a changing climate. Over the next five years, with support from the Endangered Landscapes & Seascapes Programme, we will carry out rewetting across at least 30 hectares, helping to rebuild a network of wetlands that are vital for wildlife and for the people who live in this landscape.
